What's the one item of stationery you couldn't live without?

We asked Tim Hill, Partner at Jolliffe Cork, what was the one item of stationery you couldn't live without, as we celebrate National Stationery Week.

"Many years ago, when I had just qualified as a Chartered Accountant, I acquired what turned out to be a lifelong companion in the form of a pencil case.  Its previous function was that of a wooden cigar box – Schimmelpenninck – formerly the property of an Iranian colleague who smoked them incessantly.

In the subsequent 40 years, its contents have rarely changed from including a selection of coloured pens (essential tools for an auditor) rubber, pencil and sharpener, mini stapler, mini ruler and small box of paper clips.

I would have been lost without it as it travelled with me to the scorching deserts of the Middle East, the jungles of South America, the pristine hotels of Monte Carlo, the remoteness of the Falkland Islands, the pubs of Dublin and every corner of Great Britain, from London to Edinburgh, Grimsby to Brighton, Norwich to Southport.

It is on my desk now."
